Looks like it was filled with rewrites.. which can be both good (poorly made the first time) and bad (bugs and issues).

Now the question I am having is looking at posted feature list... since when a kernel becoming an OS? Why should graphics card support be part of the kernel? How moronic is this.. imagine buying a new version of Windows because you got a new graphics card....

isn't this how windows is? Lots of integration with the kernel?

LOL you will have to buy new windows because you have new CPU Because it will not work with older versions of windows!

Now answer me how moronic is that? :D

Computer users fall into two groups:
those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail.

The 10xx cards work just fine with the older Nouveau drivers (my 1070 never had an issue on kernel 3.19 with Nouveau driver), they're just not optimized for those cards.  If you wanted to game with an older kernel and a 10xx card, you were much better off with the Nvidia drivers. But the default Nouveau ones worked just fine.

Kaby or Ryzen on the other hand ... well ... good luck getting those to play nice with an older version of Windows.

So yeah, if you were running an older version of Windows, you need to buy a new Win10 license if you get a new CPU, whereas Linux users get a FREE new kernel that has BETTER support for their new hardware.  You tell me which is the moronic option.

You can't... well not Windows at least, it would require massive modification to just about everything. It would require a large community effort to do this, and the Linux community isn't interested in doing this, because it goes against many core values of the OS.

Linux kernel (including its based OSs) follows a very different school of thought than Windows.

It doesn't mean that no effort is not taken... Ubuntu, for example, pushes to make Ubuntu more user friendly... and they have already done large modifications already to make this happen, but there is just so much that can be done, as it would require basically making its own OS.

Windows is used all over the world by people and as it grew it became user friendly.

Mac is shit and it's for dumb people, that's why it's easy to use, like iphones and all i products. They are optimized for sheeps, ups sorry for isheeps :D

Ubuntu is already user friendly. You can use it for general things like ~60% of people use their 1500-2000$ macbooks for facebook, online movies, music and things like that.

Well.... most dev, well.. nearly all mobile app developers, use Mac. They are millions of apps and companies on smartphones/tablets, so this is substantial group. Why do they use Mac's? Because they have Linux.. well Unix, but close enough, and can run app server back-end to test and develop the companies app. Web server technologies Apache, and many other technologies like dockers don't run on Windows (well you can for Apache, but hard, and many limitation and issues, and help is difficult to help. You'll just get blasted by people telling you to install it under a Linux distro). Using a mac brings ease of use + Linux/Unix to them. In addition, companies don't want to handle IT support side for Linux as most are startups, and getting knowledgeable people on Linux based OS is difficult (scarces), so expensive (high salary).

This is why Microsoft is working hard on Linux subsystem in Windows 10 feature. It is the response to this, and are expanding it for easy installation, and choice of distro (they'll be available through the Store, and basically any distro can make theirs available to the Store).

So it isn't really "sheeps and isheeps", it is a "no choice" situation.

It doesn't hurt that in order to even TEST your app on iOS you need to compile on a Mac.

So yeah, app developers have little to no choice in the matter.
