I just upgraded my Processor in hopes of getting rid of fps drops and slow performance but it only helped a little. In games like arma 3 I fps drops like crazy like down to the teens. And my computer is not as fast as others with the same pc as me. The only 2 parts i havent upgraded is my 1tb hard drive and 8gb of ddr3 ram. Could it be any of those and if so how would i fix it.

PC SPECS

-i7 4790 (NON K)

-GTX 1060 3gb

-8gb ddr3 ram

-1tb hard drive

-550w evga 80 + gold power supply

1920x1080 and im already lowered down to standard, im normally at about 60-100 fps but the drops are sometimes constant

It might be because of the cut down 1060 (Yes nvidia cut down the 3gb model)

Could be a VRAM limitation, that 1060 only has 3GB, can you monitor how much arma 3 is taking while playing? I would recommend the MSI afterburner OSD with rivatuna, if you don't know how to set it up linus might have a video, if he doesn't Tech Deals does.

Arma is way more CPU intensive so GPU's make little to no difference on the game performance

Ok, try to get an SSD then and see if it helps. Get a small like 128GB for your boot and to put arma on, you won't regret it. I love my SSD.
