Blower probably as it exhausts the hot air out of your case rather than the custom which normally just blows the air upwards onto the next card. However, if the custom card has multiple fans & better fin/heatpipe arrangement, the custom may perform better.

The blower style fans tend to starve, if they are right up against each other, however no fans are made for such circumstances. I am a big fan of motherboards, with 3 slot spacings, to avoid starving the cards.

Two cards will produce a lot of heat, so you need good airflow in your case, before the custom dual-fan coolers benefit under such circumstances. Provided you have good airflow, the custom coolers will perform better. If you are struggeling any bit with airflow, the blower style coolers will work best.

Blower style coolers are only good if your case has bad ventilation, if not a Multi-Fan custom cooler will definitely outperform it.

The custom coolers usually provides better cooling than the blower style coolers because custom coolers usually have multiple fans and heatpipes to improve cooling.

It only makes a difference depending on what type of air flow you got in your case.

In-case exhaust GPU coolers will benefit greatly from high air flow inside the case.

If air flow inside your case isn't plentiful then rear exhaust GPU coolers will be better suited for you.

I know that. However this is the first time I've had gpu's sandwiched together. this is a folding rig so it will be pegged out most of the time.

If you've got good air flow inside the case (sufficient exhaust and intake) the custom cooled GPUs will run a lot cooler than the blower style GPUs even if they were sandwiched together.

If air flow is inadequate then blower style fans will be better.

It's worth noting that there is an incredibly good cooling solution from HIS on the 7870 and 7950 cards, it uses a very large blower fan that's very quiet and better than almost any other custom GPU cooler.

The IceQ cooler from HIS, while only a 2-slot card, extends down below the second slot making them effectively triple slot cards as far as space goes. You will not be able to stack 2 of them together in slots 1+2 and 3+4 for example.
