My 6600k with no overclock is running anywhere between 85c-90c no overclock with the stock cooler, i know the stock cooler isnt great but with no overclock shouldent it be able to keep the cpu cooler?

a 6600k doesn't have a "stock cooler" K series chips DON'T include coolers, "stock coolers" are designed for chips with lower TDP then K skew chips, get a cooler designed to handle the TDP of your chip.

a 6500 has a TDP of 65 watts, a 6600k has a TDP of 91 watts, thats like 40% more heat to dissipate, that heatsinks maximum rating is a 77 watt TDP

How are your volts during load? I've just troubleshooted another high temps topic where CPU was using way too high volts for the load. This used to be issue on Devil's Canyon CPUs and Asus mobos, which was later fixed with BIOS update. Could be same style issue here.

Those are pretty hot temps even for stock cooler. It should be maxing at low-80Cs.

You're using a cooler that's not designed to keep such a higher tdp cpu cool. You can try undervolting to keep temps in check or get a beefier cooler.
