floatplane club sub forum for users to post

givingtnt

so, it would be cool to either have a separate comment section from all the videos, OR
(and I think this would be of preference) to have a sub forum for us to put posts for things related to it, wich are not nessesarly about a video.

would be a better way to communicate than the single pinned post with 780+ comments no one wants to try to read through and follow.

Every video has it's own thread, so it's own "comments" as posts. Since the entire floatplane idea is to "see videos before they are out on Youtube", why should there be a discussion thread? The very same youtube do not have a "general channel comments". Honestly I don't agree with the idea, but it's a personal opinion.

You don't need to be talking about a video

What about the platform ?

Oh well that's a different story, yes a section for that kind of discussion would be welcomed.

i could kinda see that, a subforum or something for instance for more off topic discussions where you could reference unreleased videos  or projects, etc. though i'm not 100% sure it's needed either

I thought this already existed. I wanted to buy floatplane for that mostly. Seems like I'll be wasting my money on that part.

right now the way it works is that there is 1 sub forum, lmg staff (like nick, john and linus) post videos in threads they create for the video

you can comment the thread

thats basically it. there is 1 pinned discussions but its kinda hard to keep track and follow through with questions and stuff over there. 32+ pages and almost 800 comments....

Then I won't be getting into float plane. Was really hoping to be able to contribute in the platform.

well, they do keep us updated on what is happening. they recently posted about the UI Linusforell created recently and people gave feedback over there. also I think they still do the after-wanshow fpc discussion.

they engage a LOT with fpc members compared to youtube.

For these there could as well be few more topics. But I'm against making whole new subforum. I don't like idea of FPC becoming some elitist club. Not like what contributors have.

well, fpc is a platform behind a paywall, contributors also (well ok, they get a sub forum for them and thats it) but just making a topic for each thing would simply move the problem to another place.

you would still have 1 post say named "ideas" and people commenting things that can never be sorted out and takes hours to look through.

Making subforum wouldn't make things any better imo. Can you say having these two subforums for Suggestions and Bugs work better than having just threads for them? As from general users pow? I know they are bit easier for Mortis to keep track on things.

Main issue remains. That there isn't anyone updating info anywhere. Like the Welcome threads OP hasn't been touched since it was made. It outdated as just Welcome thread. For my eyes LMG lacks community manager. Nick and Colton are doing ok-ish job at answering questions which concern community related things. But they have too much other things to do for keeping basic info pages up to date. Like Sponsors and affiliates, official sites Team page, FPC Welcome thread etc. So having subforum, just subforum, wouldn't solve it. It would still be mess of suggestions, issues, requests for videos and general spam about videos being late.
