Which CPU wait or NOT?

I am playing 1080p 144hz, plan on upgrading to 1440p 100hz. I am not doing youtube or twitch at all but would like to do some youtube, i play games as PUBG and Rainbow six siege, siege i need the good quality and High fps and PUBG i need High quality where fps dont matter as Much.

I need a mostly gaming based PC but i would like it being abel to record fine.

The pc Will not last all my life but get upgraded at some point 4 years mabye more mabye less

I would go with a Ryzen. At 1440P and above the 7700k and Ryzen 1700/1800 and are neck and neck in gaming, since higher resolutions are GPU dependent. Ryzen has more physical cores which will benefit you more so then the 4cores/8 thread 7700k especially if you will stream or record game-play. Also with more and more games making use of extra cores it might its a better idea to go with Ryzen. Unless you dont mind waiting for new chips then I would wait, but otherwise it sounds like you would greatly benefit more so from a 1700 then a 7700k .

Ryzen not an option?

Bow down to me humans.

I can't help if you don't quote me. How am I supposed to know if you need my premium support? Now starting at £399.99 a year.

Yeah i can agree but will you record like crazy? That takes long time or something like that?

Hello guys i am making a custome pc but i dont know if i should wait for the new cpu's to launch or just buy a i7 7700k ?

I would not buy a 7700k if your not going to over clock, and if all your going to be doing is gaming then I would consider 7600(K) as it will be cheaper and can sill game, and may give you some more money for a GPU. I would also consider going AMD, they off better performance at a lower price in most cases, no pun intended xD

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

That depends how much you want to record, and if you are playing at high refresh rates. If just 60Hz, then R5 would be just fine.

Unless you are playing at high refresh rates, R5 would be much better (R7 if you record often).

Okay was thinking about waiting for threadripper or the new Intels. Which R7 would you Pick and you would Never Pick Intel? Even if you had the budget ?

Its not that I would never pick Intel (I own an i5), but rather that X299 is a mess and its really overpriced compared to Ryzen and thread ripper. If you really wanted the little but extra performance regardless of cost, you could go Intel, just dont expect good value for money. I wouldn't worry about thread ripper much unless you plan to do YT as a job, the 1700 is already pretty good at rendering as is.

Then a 1600, and a bunch of snacks.

If you are going to do a lot of recording or need more encoding performance, then go for the 1700.

Pick Intel if you have a heavy AVX2 workload (which you won't) and stay away from X299 for a while, it is a terrible platform and could take months for motherboard manufacturers to figure out what they need to do, and if they even want to do it properly.

Threadripper will not give any benefits in gaming over an R7 1700, and will likely be slightly worse. It would boost video encoding quite a bit, although it would make more sense to just get a 1600 or 1700, save your extra cash, and if you need more processing power later, get a second PC as a dedicated encoding box.

What about the R7 1700x ? Is it worth taking that i stead of the 1700?

No, they are the same processor die. The 1700 is unlocked and can be overclocked to at least 3.8GHz. The performance difference between the 1700, 1700X and 1800X is marginal, also the 1700 comes with a stock cooler that can be very useful while waiting for an AM4 bracket from the supplier if you get an aftermarket cooler that requires a separate bracket.

The stock cooler with the 1700 works well. I ran my R7 1700 at 3.8GHz on the stock cooler.

What resolution will you be gaming at ? Will you be streaming and doing multiple things while gaming ? Are you interested in overclocking ? Do you plan to upgrade within 2-3 years or are you going for longevity and future proofing on your build?
