This will be my first build. I plan to start buying in a couple of months. This will primarily be for gaming with a little use for class work. Looking for any constructive criticism.

Parts List at PCPartPicker.com

I would highly suggest a 6c/12t R5 1600 on the new AM4 platform, vs a 4c/4t i5 on the soon to be obsolete LGA1151 platform.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor  ($199.99 @ SuperBiiz)

More mini ITX boards will be out soon, AsRock for example. But for now that biostar is the only one. By all means go for the i5 if you really want its just not as good a long term purchase as the R5. Ideally I would say get an R5 or an i7. The i5 has no place now really (at least not at its current price)

@Jurrunio Ah yeah it is popular. I still stand by what I said, don't buy an i5 in 2017. Get an R5 and if you can't/won't do that then get an i7. 4 Cores 4 Threads is weak compared to the other offerings.

Thanks guys! You bith had some good points. If they had an ITX AM4 MB  I'd go for that build on the spot. I am going to look at a larger form factor to see waht I think.

If you are ok with mATX or even ATX then ditch ITX.
