what audio option should i use for ripping blu-ray

Considering Astro A40's are headphones, Dolby 2.0 would make more sense.

 

Your ears are binaural - meaning that they take stereo sound and reconstruct 3-D surround sound from it. Using 5.1 surround signals in a stereo headphone is pointless.

 

Actual 5.1 speaker setups work because our ears are directional and can pick up the different locations of the speakers, but that doesn't work when the headphones are right against the ear.

True but some people are cheapos.

 

I generally keep the Master HD Audio Track, but sometimes I'll also have handbrake convert the audio into something more portable.
