No I get uncomfortable because the cpu cooler gets higher at speed and noisy

if you use ez tuning to oc, you might get a higher core voltage than needed, making your cpu run very hot under load (i got upwards of 90c on 15% oc, changed core volt from 1,3something to 1,25 and it dropped down do around 70s for 100% loads on prime95

Have you tried to perform a sudden temporary interrupt of the electricity flow to your computational device followed by a re-initialization procedure of the central processing unit and associated components?

Personal Rig Specs

if you are not comfortable with the risks involved, don't overclock it.

If your cpu is getting too hot try reapplying the thermal paste like this:

1- Get some arctic silver 5 , Its the best I have found.

2- Once you have taken the heat sink off, put some TIM remover onto some tissue, toilet paper will be fine, and gently wipe over the CPU. until there is no paste left.

3- Wait 2-3 minutes

4- Wipe all the surfaces you have just cleaned with a material like your t-shirt

5- Apply a line of thermal paste in a parallel line to the longest edge on the CPU.

6- Spred it out, you want a thin layer over the whole die, making sure that you can't see the die.

7- Place the heat sink down and wait for about a minute to let the air escape

8- Put the screws back in a star like pattern, don't tighten them too much until they are all in, you don't want the heat sink to move at all.

9- Make sure that it is all tight and reassemble you computer

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

artic silver 5 is way off being the best, way way off, but better than stock paste. the 7700k gets hot no matter what, best of delidding.

I have found it to give good results the price point.

Why then OP did you buy a Z270 motherboard and a unlocked i7 to not OC? It would be a real waste not to do it, and its pretty simple. Hard to damage anything either unless you set to voltage to a ridiculous level (Delidding would help temps, but I suspect you wont be comfortable doing that).

i paid something like £7 for liquid pro and it dropped my cpu temps 15-20c after a delid, with artic silver it dropped 5 at most. and cost me something like £5.

I have had no issues with it. Helped my mac pro out alot too. Mabey it's just the way I apply it.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

The worst case scenario is that your pc thermal throttles and the shuts off. The solution to that is to wait and then turn down your oc. The other issue is that your oc causes bsod or won't boot. If your pc won't boot because of an oc is just to take the cmos battery for 5-10 mins. If you spent money on overclocable hardwhere then I would take advantage of it. You can always invest in a new cooler if needs be.

Could have put it into a better GPU, larger SSD or better peripherals, things that would all improve your performance or experience/usability by a practical amount. Anyway I would still recommend doing it (At least a mild OC), no reason not to and put it to waste.

I have a z270a motherboard and a 600w psu 1 16 gb ram stick 2400mhz and a i7 7700k and a silver stone ar01 cooler should I overclock it automatically with the motherboard it will increase 15% performance

I would also not recommend using the motherboard software to OC for you...they've gotten better since the 2500K days, but they almost always overdo the voltage / it's sometimes not actually stable. It's not that hard to overclock at all, but I would just do a mild OC since your cooler is not too great. It's up to you though, but I'd recommend doing it.

i7s on their own typically run hot due to the hyper threading.
