I have a thunderbolt display and I've been looking for motherboards that have compatibility for it. I read about the Gigabyte z270 Gaming 7 having thunderbolt 3 compatibility. Question, do I need the Asus Thunderbolt EX III card still? The ex3 was supposed to plug into the thunderbolt header on the motherboard, then take the output from your graphics card and multiplex it as a signal that a thunderbolt monitor recognizes. Has anyone tried this with any success?
