It is, but may require a BIOS update which will require a Skylake CPU to do (May already have it applied if new).

Safest bet is get a 200 series motherboard. B250, Z270, H250 or was it H270, regardless a 200 series.

That will work out of the box.

With the 100 series however, it will work, but maybe not out of the box. You have no idea what bios version the motherboard will have, and if it doesn't have the one required to run Kaby Lake, then it's not going to work until you update the bios using a Skylake processor.
