Alright well, let me put it this way. For starters i play video games avidly such as bf4, LoL, GW2, and soon Wildstar. I also love watching movies and media stuff. Basically I use the computer for everything. My question here is should i get a really nice monitor (2550x1440 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009C3M7H0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=4UIEWJWTS5MV&coliid=I32MJ6BAJGRYTN ) and lets say an R9 290 w/after market cooler which would cost around 950$ off of amazon( Also that is assuming the R9 290 aftermarket cooler will be around 400$). Or, should I get a 1080p monitor with a 120hz refresh rate and 1ms response time ( I would prob get http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D7IG556/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=4UIEWJWTS5MV&coliid=I3B34R5Y4LN70A ) , and lets say a gtx 780 OC.. So my budget is around 950$ or less.. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated

144 Hz and 780 only because you play BF4. You will get the jump around corners and fire first shots.

I would say that depends a lot on what you want form your monitor.

If you want to be able to spot an enemy head form further away, then I would go with the higher ress, but if you want to be sure that you see things when they happen the 120Hz monitor would be my choice.

Also you have to consider that you properly won't get the benefit right away, but have to get used to the higher refresh rate, just as Linus tested a video where he had to tell whether it was at 60Hz or 120Hz, he could, but the "average gamer" could not.

Mh personally I would go for the second option. There are even some really nice TN panels out there. TN does not equal bad quality. I don't have a 120Hz+ monitor myself, but I got the chance to test some at Gamescom and at a friend's house. If you can reach at least 100FPS in Games with a 120Hz, the difference is so much worth it, really. If you get like even more than 120 FPS, you could even go for a 144Hz monitor. Games just feel so much smoother with those kind of refreshrates.

This only makes sense if you game alot on your PC of course.
