Hi everyone! Which computer should I buy for programming and web developing? Windows or Mac or both? What do you recommend me? If it's Windows which PC would you recommend me?

Mac. Because you can run Windows on it either natively via Boot Camp or by Parallels Desktop, VM Ware Fusion or Virtual Box.

You can go the other way as well and run OSX on a virtual box cant you?

Older versions of OS X like the ones coming from a DVD? I think so as long as the primary machine is a Mac too. Running OS X on a non-Apple computer is against the EULA which also makes it not allowed to discuss here as per Community Standards.

and it's not that easy to achieve in the first place.

 

For webdevelopment it's whatever you want. It doesn't really matter as web(development) is the exact same regardless of OS, even for Android and iOS it's the same and theoretically you can develop any website on those mobile OS as well.

 

For designing there is one program I recommend that is mac only, that is Sketch. However, Adobe XD is coming and can do the same things but also on windows.

 

When it comes to programming it's really up to what you want to program. If you want to program for iOS you need an mac. But there are certain windows only programming languages (I don't have a list right now though).

Advantage of mac is also that you are sure you can run windows on a VM, other way around is not that easy and illegal.
But, the advantage of the macOS platform are so very very slim.

 

All this comes from 10 years experience of designing and developing websites and all sorts of content that goes online. have both a windows PC and a Macbook since 2012. I have 0 preference in one over the other, and I easily switch between them. One thing I do recommend is investing in a second display for whatever system you're working on. Highly beneficial to program on one display and see the result on another.

Yeah it is, but wasnt sure if there was a way to do it without breaking the EULA. Problem solved, buy a Mac.

When I worked as a programmer (Specifically front-end web development) we were working on Macs since we could test on Windows and Mac from one system. Despite the browsers being mostly the same they have quirks that pop up in one version and not the other.

A mac with a windows virtual machine (and maybe a virtual linux machine too) can be helpful in my opinion

I use Linux for web development because it's free and way more powerful for automating things. You get more tools and all the browsers except edge which you can just run in a vm. Get used to running vm of servers anyway.

you can really use anything to develop web apps. Even selenium web driver is available on all platforms.
