Okay so im putting together a list of specs that im gonna put in my pc and ive come to the hard drive and ssd section.. And storage is not my strong side, at all. I dont know whats the difference and whats the best? Is there something that i need to think about when buying a certain storage unit. ( 2.5" SATA / M.2 / mSATA )

"Memory" is the term used when discussing RAM. "Storage" (although still technically memory) is the term used when discussing things like SSD's and HDD's or other forms of non-volatile memory.

your title and your first post seem to be asking very different questions. the difference between a SSD and HDD is pretty significant (SSD's are much faster, HDD's are much cheaper per GB)... the difference between 2.5" SATA drive and M.2 SATA drive is merely form factor.

didn't realize i typed memory and not storage haha im sorry. What i want to know is what 2.5" SATA / M.2 / mSATA has for a difference. I know the basics between an ssd and hhd but dont understand the sata and m.2 etc part.

they're just form factors. an M.2 Sata drive and a 2.5" sata drive will perform pretty much identically if they are the same drive (for example the MX300 2.5" and the MX300 m.2 drive will perform pretty much the same) the only difference is they have different connectors. It will also be important for you to check your motherboard for compatibility, as not all M.2 slots are both NVMe and SATA compatible (most are, but not all)

Some M.2 drives (NVMe drives) can be massively faster than a normal Sata based drive however, so its good not to get those two mixed up. Very few people in the world actually need those kinds of speeds though, so you should probably just be looking at a normal SATA drive for your PC.

The parts for the build om gonna do will be ordered next week but ive planned for the Z270F or Z270H motherboard from asus

It would be helpful to us to see your entire parts list to check if everything is compatible or if there is something else you may be wanting to spend your money on for more price:performance. of those two motherboards I would probably recommend the Z270F as its not much more expensive and has a decent more amount of features and better aesthetics IMO

but most people nowadays should probably be spending their money on Ryzen rather than Core i5/i7, unless they have a massive budget and are looking for only high refresh rate gaming @ 1080p.

cpu : intel core i7 7700k

gpu : asus rog strix 1060 6gb oc (already got the graphics card in current pc)

Motherboard : asus Z270F

radiator : Kraken x52

Psu : blank

ram : ddr4 2400mhz but dont know what brand

ssd : samsung evo 250gb (x2)

hdd : blank

fans : same as is included in chassi (some kind of corsair fans)

Your build is as good idea of what I meant by price:performance. the 7700k is undoubtedly the most powerful gaming CPU currently on the market (excluding the marginally faster and considerably more expensive 7740x) but you're never going to be able to leverage that level of CPU horsepower with a mere GTX 1060. By pulling some of the unnecessary funds out of your CPU and motherboard selection, and reallocating them towards other hardware in your system, you can get a great deal more performance out of your build at no additional cost:

Your build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ftpjD8

modified build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Kjc6bj

I know it says you already have the 1060, but with all the etherium mining stuff going on, you should be able to sell that card for near cost (or maybe more) since 1060 prices are so inflated right now due to a low supply. the "modified" build list would provide a great deal more fps in gaming, or higher resolution/graphical settings if that is the way you choose to go with it.

It would help to know what kind of monitor you have/intend to use (resolution and refresh rate are important here) and if you intend to upgrade your graphics solution in the near future, but otherwise it doesn't really make sense to be investing so much in a 7700k when its not going to affect your performance. Also I don't know exactly what is available in your country, so some of the exact parts in the "modified build" list may not make sense for price reasons, but you should be able to get a similar amount of hardware by substituting out specific options/brands for whatever is more readily available in Sweden if that is an issue.

The thing is that i dont wanna throw another 500 bucks at a graphics card since i just bought the 1060 not long ago. But i was thinking that i make this build and then i can upgrade the gpu if i feel like its needed.

That's the thing... you wouldn't be throwing another $500 at the GPU... its just using the same money you're going to be spending either way. and you don't even have to buy a 1080, I was merely showing you what was possible. You could go R5 1600 and STILL keep your 1060 if you wanted. Performance will be the same either way.

But if 7700k now and GPU upgrade later is the way you want to play it, and is the hardware which will make you happy, then don't let me stop you from doing it. It's certainly not "bad" to do it that way. After all, this is your money and your build, and not everything in computer building has to be about Price:Performance... I was merely offering a suggestion in case you wanted to take it :D
