I was wondering out of this 1155 motherboard what would be best one on here. Since almost impossible to get 1155 boards in AUS besides 1 with 2 ramslots and Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Or what chipset is the best to look at for my 3770 I heard Z68 or Z77 with 4 ram slots maybe raid or at least sata 6 gbits with usb 3.0

Specs

Intel i7-3770

Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H

Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 1070 G1 8Gbit

Corsair 240GB SSD

Kingston 120GB SSD

2TB Seagate 7200rpm

650Wat Gold PSU

CD-DVD Dual Layer Burner

16GB DDr3 Kingston Low Profile 1600mhz

Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 120mm Dual

Corsair Full Size Case

So what chipset or board would be good to get even second hand from ebay or alibaba

i7-3770 or i7-3770K?

If you the a "K" SKU chip, then you want P or Z chipset based motherboard for allow for overclocking. For example:

  • P67
  • Z68
  • Z75
  • Z77

Otherwise, something like H67 or H77, Q77, etc, will be just a fine.

Most full ATX sized motherboards will have the requirements you want (e.g. 4 DIMM slots, SATA 3, USB 3.0, etc).

I have 4 machine still with 1155, and 1 is still off because MB is dead, at this point, I'm actually glad if I can still find any good working MB under $30, any chipset will do, and yes I refuse to pay more than that, because it's really not worth it, I can get H110 for a little bit more and G4560 which makes everything easier.

If you going to spend $100 or more for a MB, maybe selling it if off would be better for the future.

But if you can find Z77 or H77 that would be great.

Forget older Z67/68, that's too old, most Z67 doesn't even support IvyBridge processor, so becareful.

The highest end chipset for 1155 was Z77. Boards with this chipset usually have the most features. As others have said other chipsets that work for 3770 are H77, B75 H61.

Other chipsets include Z68, P67 H67, but be careful with 60 series motherboards as the were made for SandyBridge (2000 series processors), so the may not be compatible with 3000 series CPUs, you have to check compatibility list for a specific motherboard. Also 60 series rarely have USB 3.0, SATA 6G or PCIe 3.

CPU: i7 3770K | MB: EVGA Z77 FTW | RAM: HyperX Savage 2400Mhz 16GB | GPU: R9 280X Toxic | Cooler: Scythe Fuma | PSU: CoolerMaster B600

SSD: Crucial MX300 525GB | HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB - Toshiba DT01ACA300 3TB
