780 vs 1060

Been looking at some benchmarks and doing some math. Is it fair to say the 1060 is roughly about 25% faster than the 780? Just making sure that sounds about right. Thinking about getting a 780 for ~$150 on ebay.

Some videos on YouTube of the 980 vs 780ti, then the 780 vs 780ti, then finding the difference in frames by percentage. I had a hard time finding direct comparisons so it was a rough estimate.

Those cards are a bit newer than the 780. I want a cheap card on ebay that I can use for a short time until I'm ready to sell it and get a faster card. Is there an easier way of comparing cards? What synthetic benches are best?

I'd head over to Userbenchmark and look at the relative performance difference between GPU's.

I'll check it out. And what about CPU's? Is just looking at r15 spreadsheets the easiest/quickest way?

For CPU's and GPU's, I would look at actual benchmarks alongside UBM. As long as you're looking at relatively similar builds, results should be accurate.

What if I want to compare an old CPU to a newer one? Are benchmarks not accurate across very different architectures?

I wouldn't count on it since the benchmark could have changed.

Checking a Sandy against a Haswell or Ryzen should be fine, but anything farther back isn't likely to work out.

$150 for a 780 is a really good deal. I would recommend trying to squeeze a Ti in there because it acts almost identical in some situations to a 1060.
