So this has happened to me twice now, both today. No crash error messages, no nothing. My PC just completely froze and it had to be reset from the powerbutton..

1st crash:  I can't remember what I was doing exept watching some video.. (non-youtube related)

2nd crash:  Just browsing youtube just now before it crashed..

Never happened to me before exept once when I was OC'ing my gpus(so i thought that my gpu's were getting too little power).. decided I didnt need the extra 3fps so I removed the overclocks and rolled with the default ones. This was ~2weeks ago

Anyway.. heres what I got:

i5 2500k 4,5ghz  -  idle ~50C and while gaming max 70-ish C

sli msi 570's  -  idle 50 on main gpu, 2nd gpu ~47. Gaming loads ~70/60C

msi p67a-gd55 mobo

kingston hyperx 120gb SSD.  -  Boot driver, only drivers and windoes here.

Samsung 1tb harddrive for games, movies and such

Nexus 850w 80+ PSU, RX-8500

8GB ddr3.

EDIT: Windows 7 home premium.

None of my temps are overwhelming in my opinion and I don't think my PSU is too weak to delived power to both of my gpus and cpu while idling(never crashed while playing bf4, crysis etc. apart from my failed OC attemp on my gpus).. The system is about 2years old apart from the 2nd gpu which is around 1.5years olds and the SSD which is just under a year. I also ran 2 different virusscans and found out nothing.

Am I being too sceptical or is there something to worry about? All ideas and opinions appreciated.

Sorry about typos and such.. it's 5am.. I'll get back to this when I wake up..

Just woke up.

I left my pc running overnight to download a couple of games from steam. Didn't crash(Around 7h or so..)

@Tea1337

Yesterday 2 times and once a similar crash like 2 weeks before that.

Yesterday the crashes happened at like 11pm and 3:30am.

And like I said it crashes without any errors which is the weirdest part.. It only says windows wasn't able to shutdown properly when I boot back up. But that happens everytime when killing the system directly from the powerbutton..

I'll keep an eye on temps and such today and see if it still keeps crashing.. kinda paniced yesterday since my system has never had any actual problems.

That's odd that it's shutting town without an error. I personally haven't had that happen to me, always with error messages. There may have been a background program that decided something is going wrong and shut down the computer. Difficult to diagnose.

Yeh..

It crashed once more the day after the first post. Decided I'd turn my CPU overclocks from 4,5 to 4,2.. so far it hasn't crashed.

Did you have supporting voltages and frequencies for the OC? Ex. NB,HT, etc. Did you overclock ram? Try updating all drivers from MSI. Best regards.

Maybe it didn't have enough voltage for a stable 4.5ghz overclock?

That's probably it.. Gonna push back up to 4,5 and set the voltages higher for a day or two.. I just havn't had time to test stability lately because of an exam week.

Also when I had it set to 4,5ghz my ethernet port randomly stopped working(happened like 3-4 times).. I had to physically disconnect the cable and plug it back in to get connection again..

All chips are different and I'd rank mine as somewhere in the middle of bad overclocker and silicon lottery. If the issue is related to your overclock, I have my own 2500k overclocked to 4.5ghz  with a voltage of 1.35v. Did an Intel Burn Test set to maximum to really stress the system out and it passed 10 passes for stability.

I recommend stressing it at the voltage mentioned with Intel Burn Test for 10 passes and max setting to see if system is indeed stable. Let IBT do its thing as you go watch tv for awhile or something.

I'll give it a shot next week(end) when I got the time. Tyvm :)
