Hello, I was wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with Zotac graphics cards in the past or is currently using one. I've always seen Zotac as the company that is always a hit or miss with their cards. Reason being that I've heard some people say good and bad things about them. However I do know companies can turn things around. A friend of mine is offering me to sell me his Zotac Amp Edition 1080 for $350. Before hitting the trigger I want to know people's thoughts and experience with Zotac cards recently. Thanks.

Their cards work fairly well, indeed some are hit or miss with the cooler designs, but I think for $350, you should probably jump for it as that's a really good price for a 1080 (even used). Though, no experience with warranty / customer service though.

My cousin has a zotac 780 Ti (used), but that's been chugging along just fine for the past few years.

Regarding their coolers, I have a Fractal Design Define Nano S. I'm a bit worried that the cooler might choke since it's going to be obstructed by the PSU. Any thoughts if it'll hold up? I don't plan on overclocking this card at all BTW.

Zotac cards are fine. Some of them look downright goofy, enough to make ASUS' most obnoxious offering blush, but as GPUs go they're perfectly solid.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

I believe it should be fine. The 1080 while powerful, doesn't put off that much heat. Overclocking will heat things up.

I have my two 1070s in pretty bad spots as well, one is partway blocked by my RAID card right in front of it, and the other literally only has 1/8-1/4" of space to the bottom...both manage to stay in the 70C range during vray rendering. Both are overclocked as well.

I do agree, the one he has has that goofy yellow stripe on the back but I might paint it over silver or black

I see, I might end up going for it depending on what other people say. Thanks a lot.

I have a zotac gtx470 that I bought a few months after they launched and used up until January of this year.  It wasnt a great overclocker, but was a solid card and its cooling design ran about 20C cooler than the reference cooler asus 470 I had it in sli with.
