Hi,

Should I go through the hassle of removing my waterblock of my AIO to reapply thermal paste?

Having some real high cpu temps. CPU usage is around 0-20% and having temps ranging from 46-55 C. Ambient temps are around 26 C. The CPU is an i7-4790k (no overclock currently, unlike the specs website below mentioning otherwise), cooler is a Corsair Hydro Series H75 and thermal paste is around 1,5 years old. (Build in december 2015). I don't want to go through the hassle of this process today because it is so warm in my house caused from the warm weather in the Netherlands. The air coming from the back of my pc is warmer than I would like (radiator mounted in the back).

Kind regards,

Zandor Smith

i get idle temps of around 20 for my 4790k with an AIO. send a pic of your cooler how it is right now. i might have an idea of what your issue is.

EDIT: I could add another fan to change it into an push-pull configuration but I don't know if that will make any difference... Will need to buy a fan splitter because all my fan connections are taken up...

Consider blowing the dust out perhaps, it can have a negative impact on performance.

Not sure then, maybe consider a re-application of thermal paste and remount =/ at least eliminate that as the factor. Was it the stock paste up until now?

You may want to blow the dust out of the radiator with a can of air or a compressor if you have one, same thing with the fans. What I would suggest is wiping the AIO heatsink surface down with rubbing alcohol two to three times (both the CPU heatsink and the CPU itself), and reapplying the thermal paste. You may also want to try checking your cable management and make sure that nothing is blocking any fans or possibly inhibiting their performance.

I think adding another fan may help your temperature issue, but the ambient temperature of the room you have your computer in is also a contributing factor to why your CPU temps look the way they do. I have an overclocked 7700k running at 32 degrees celsius (89 fahrenheit) on idle, but I'm in a small room with the window cracked and the fan going. I also use a H100i v2 to cool it down in what is a push configuration since I have it at the top of the case. Good luck figuring out what's going on.
