hey guys,

its me again and this time i have a very specific question to you.

heres the simple problem : my friend and i thought a good old round of coop might be fun but splinter cell conviction wont start on his system properly anymore and the rest of the internet told us its a common thing cause apparently a 970 is "too advanced" so the game doesnt support it or some shit.

so i was wondering if theres any options short of buying an older graphics card for him.

"You know it'll clock down as soon as it hits 40°C, right?" - "Yeah ... but it doesnt hit 40°C ... ever  😄"

You can try running the game in compatibility mode. But that game is a shining example of the way Ubisoft ported games back then, it's a turd.

It also only runs on 2 cores so with your FX CPU you can pretty much expect 35 fps at taxing moments.

I'm not commenting on the quality of the gameplay, but the quality of the software/port. It ran horribly when it launched and even then it had a myriad of compatibility issues. I bought all splinter cell games that came out, and only the latest game still runs. The rest either runs terribly, is missing assets/lighting engines or doesn't even launch.

I say this as a reason to just simply not bother, it's a mess of a game. Even if you get it to boot, during my co-op with another person it crashed repeatedly.

Also, if you're going to respond super salty because I told you the particilar CPU you own won't run the game to any decent degree, save face by not projecting superhard and just admit you're salty. I'm not the one who is annoyed, lol.

get a cheap C2D system then? you can get them for incredably cheap

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
