overclocking ?

acepro71

ok as you can see my pc specs in the signature

is it worth overclocking as i do not need it but i wanna try it for the first time !

but to do so ill need to change my motherboard and power supply and a better cpu cooler ?

I just recently overclocked my 8350! You shouldn't need to change your power supply, and the hyper 212 should be okay for a moderate overclock. Your motherboard might not like it due to the increased power draw through the board and cpu socket. The hyper 212 should be just fine for 4.5, 4.6 Ghz, being I'm running my 8350 on 4.4 on the stock cooler and it's still 7 degrees below the recommended thermal limit (under max load, tested with aida64)  :P. If you have ANY questions, I'd be glad to help :)

As for is it worth it?

Personally I'd say yes, yes it is :)

Clock speed is a fun thing to play around with, especially on am3+ platforms. It's not that dangerous either, unless you make a horrible mistake like dialing 1.6 volts in for your cpu :P

Edit-

If your motherboard doesn't have have vrm heatsinks, then DEFINITELY change it out for another board. A 990fx board is a nice thing to have for overclocking, and they aren't that expensive either :)

That motherboard isint made for overclocking so I wouldn't even try (the VRM's don't have heat sinks).

what are ur room temperatures ?

also this is a dual rail 500 w so i do not think it would be ok as psu calculator says i need 480 W just for the stock clocks

I wouldn't overclock very much with that motherboard.

you will need to change your motherboard, what psu do you have? the cooler should be ok for overclocking depending on the voltage you chip requires

i know but my friend did like an 4.5 ghz with the same board

My ambient is usually around 67-68* Fahrenheit, or 19.4* Celsius. As to a new PSU, i didn't see it in your signature, so yea you would need a larger one. Although I'd recommend a new one anyway, it's not good to run your psu at max load all the time (a 500 watt is gunna have to push pretty hard to power your system).

4.5 on that board, will probably kill the board off pretty quick. VRMs get very hot, and they require heatsinks when overclocking or when you have a high voltage cpu (in this case you have both :P)

You can overclock just fine, but the lifespan is going to VERY short with a 4+1 power phase powering an overclocked 32nm 8 core.

Yea, don't even consider overclocking without VRM heatsinks. You are just asking for problems in the future. It will work for a bit sure, but it WILL kill itself. Should buy a better board because when it does fry, you can run the risk of it taking other components with it.
