It has been some years since then amd 7th series came out and my old gpu 7870 is struggling to keep up with the modern titles. I think the best scenarion would be to upgrade my gpu but i lack the money to buy something that will cover for the next 3+years. I am wondering though if its worth to crossfire my 7870 with another. In ebay i have found used card as low as 30euro. Do you think its worth it? Will i see difference on my fps.

Don't really.... 2gb isn't much, and will bottleneck.

Crossfire with weak cards was a BAD idea 10 years ago, and this did not change. You might only get +30-40% more performance, maybe +50-60%.

Plus a ton of problems.

But yea, 30 bucks isn't much, and you should get this back if you resell it, in case it doesn't give you enough boost.

What Games do you play? Some will require more than 2gb of Vram. so even if you crossfire 20 7870 together, they would not perform well ^^

those games might work, they don't need much Vram.

Stuff like CoD infinite Warfare should stutter (since it needs Low textures already when you have 4gb :P)

But yea, might work. Just try to keep the fps above 60 at all times. The lower the fps, the more microstuttering should be visible ^^

yeah i know it cant share the vram... Would be compatibility issues if the cards isnt the same brand and the clock is the same?

no game requires more than 2gb of Vram to run otherwise cards like the gtx 1050 (ti) would barrely sell themselves.

You have tried every game there is?

Well, enough people think you don't need more than 4gb of Vram to run a Game at LOW texture settinsg without stutter.

And there is CoD Infinite Warfare... Can't even run stutterfree on a Fury X with HBM, because the Vram is not enough for Normal texture settings. Need to set it on LOW ^^

Cards like the 1050 are not made for AAA games. And 1050 ti has 4gb^^

2gb today is the absolute bare minimum to be playable for most games. However, i would NOT hold my hands in the fire and say there is no game, that requires more than 2.

just because they would use more than 2gb doesnt mean you have to have it. MY brother used to play BF4, BF3, CS:Go on a gtx 560 1GB in 1080p with more than 60fps, so i dont think your point doesnt represent the general rule

The less valid point is yours. I said some games. You tried to generalize and said no game, which is inherently not true.
