Yeah, it will run a fan or fan controller or lighting or something like that.

Nothing bad will happen.

I just got my Cooler Master master case maker 5. There is one cable coming from the front io i have no idea what to do with (see pictures). I hope anybody knows what the cable is for. Sorry for the blurry pictures i took them with my really crappy phone.

that's a molex plug for a fan controller or LEDs.

That's a molex connector, it was used as a general power cable, but I don't think it's used much these days.

thats molex, its a legacy power connector. probably to get power to something in the front io such as a fancontroller. if your psu doesn't have cables for it than you can get adapter cables for it.

NO, straight up no, that's the quickest way to destroy equipment.

You realise molex 4 pin and its modern equivalent carry the exact same voltage and ampage, a high quality adaptor will do no harm to any equipment. In regards to the original post, it is for a front fan, or some sort of LED controller. A 4 pin molex cable found with your PSU cables, or an adaptor like above will work perfectly. Enjoy your new case, it's a beauty!

lmao thats only the case if you buy cheap crap. just don't import it from china or some weird local shop and its fine, don't be afraid to spend 8 bucks on it. yea of course using aluminum wires that are badly insulated instead of proper thick copper wires that have proper insulation will cause damage, but that is an argument you can use for any cable ever.

The problem is that there are no quality ones, they all come from china and are crap.

Use molex on the PSU, or just don't use the LED/fan controller at all.

This is true, and I have had issues with some in the past. But! High quality ones are available, most case manufacturers will make them. I make my own now. Very very basic stuff. Power draw is usually the only issue, so almost all adaptor faults are down to user error anyway, but because a fan or LEDs will draw very little electricity from your PSU, there should be no issues.

I haven't seen any quality ones but there must be some out there.

The ones with coloured cables are almost certainly cheap ones from china.

That be a Molex. Those used to be used for everything, HDDs, optical drives, floppy drives etc. You can get adapters to convert Molex to things like PCIe 6/8 pin or fan power, but it's not recommended as a permanent solution.
