College Laptop

I'm looking for a laptop for this year at university because my macbook just broke.

I'm working with a budget of around $500-600

I don't need anything with a ton of power. All I'm gonna be doing on it is assignments and web browsing like youtube, facebook etc

More than anything I need this thing to be relatively thin and light. I have to carry it around campus all day, it can't be a brick.

 

Please throw some suggestions my way, I'd love to hear anything anyone has to offer.

Personally, I'd suggest looking at the new iPad Pro if you want to spend slightly more cash ($649 I think). The 10.5" screen is a good size, its light, as powerful as many laptop PC's out there, and with the smart keyboard (especially when ios 11 comes out) it looks like it might be a viable alternative to a laptop for some people, in my opinion.

 

Or, you could go with a Windows based laptop like this. Seems to be pretty decent with lots of good reviews.

Some cheap Intel Atom, Win 10 2-in-one? Schoolwork is not deserving of anything fancy or more powerful.

I would suggest you to go for a second hand laptop instead of buying a brand new one.
