No im not buying skylake or kabylake. I just want faster render times and multitasking

Im wondering if i should get the i7 3930k $125 6 core 12 thread or the ryzen 1400 $160 Idc about all the new features

the motherboard will be more expensive for the i7 but they will end up near the same cost

i7 3930k + x79 mobo (ECC compatible) + ram = $280 - $270

Ryzen 1400 + mobo + ram  = $270

I also have this 3rd option

2x Xeon x5560 6 core + Server mobo + RAM = $170

All that I would suggest is the 3rd option and have 3 sticks of ram per CPU

Im mostly on discord now and you can find me on my profile

My Build: Xeon 2630L V, RX 560 2gb, 8gb ddr4 1866, EVGA 450BV

My Laptop #1: i3-5020U, 8gb of DDR3, Intel HD 5500

Basically just not the Xeons as they're a 2009 CPU.

I wouldn't go with the Xeon's simply because of the very slow RAM. I would pick the Ryzen system, however, if these renders times are that important I would stick with the motherboard and RAM selected, and go with a higher tier Ryzen CPU... Such as the 1600 or 1700 if you want some serious performance.

GPU: XFX RX 7900 XTX

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D

yeah thing i'm not using it as a daily driver it's a secondary system so i cant be really throwing in high end CPUs in there trying to get the best bang out of my buck

I understand, but value wise the 1600 makes the most sense in this situation. For rendering the extra 2 cores and 4 threads (plus a higher operating frequency - not to mention better overclocking) will make a discernible difference.

Not too big of a price difference either.

I completely get your point man, but i'm on a tight budget trust me I'd love to get the 1600 but it's really over my budget.

forgot to mention the 5560 isn't hex core (although your ebay link shows 5650 which is)

I run a single x5650, and it cant even compete with the 3930k, unless you want support for ECC RAM, you'd definitely be better of going for either ryzen or a used 3690k/4690k (if you can find a cheap board)

In this case then yeah go for the 1400 man. It's still very capable.
