CPU+Motherboard needed

oh ok makes more sense than fleabay

Hey ebay is fleabay

So yeah, choose a T3500 or a T5500 or a Z400 they are Xeon cpu's in the LGA 1366 category, sure they are wimpy cpu's but you can always upgrade later, as I said, but better to upgrade to a X5670 or something, 4 core faster speed is better for gaming.

I am finding a lot of T5500 in dual CPU, but most of the T3500's are single CPU.

Buy this - http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Dell-Precision-T3500-PC-Intel-Xeon-W3505-DC-2-53GHz-3GB-Ram-No-HDD-QTY-/272697286662?hash=item3f7e066006:g:C70AAOSwZ4dZMFaj

Got $100 left over

So use Linux XUbuntu O/S which is awesome & its free!!!!!

Need a HDD and some extra DDR3 ram and a power cord

I'd say a good 8GB ram is good 4 u

buy a refurbished HDD from newegg.ca $30 for 160GB $40 for 320GB couple 500GB sprinkled in the $35 range + s/H is about $5

ok. well a single socket would prob only have one 24pin and would prob be the best for the video editing part and work decant for gaming.

The point is you can upgrade that cpu to a smoking hot fast Xeon X56** series CPU for $40 or so.

Plus your choice of 4C/8T or 6C/12T depending on what you want.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Xeon_microprocessors

"Bloomfield" (45 nm) in LGA 1366

From there on down to

"Westmere-EP" <------- These are the CPU's you want right here.

Xeon.jpg

X5677 for example is 4C/8T for $50-$60

http://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xx5677.TRS0&_nkw=x5677&_sacat=0

So you may want more cores, a few pennies more

http://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_odkw=x5687&_sop=15&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xx5675.TRS0&_nkw=x5675&_sacat=0

This socket is vastly over-looked and is a great bargain, because everyone wants the greatest and the latest. My spare desktop is a X58 LGA-1366 i7-920 (which I bought for $200CAD, complete system, working and everything, W7 12GB ram, 1TB HDD, I bought off of Kijiji from a Computer Tech Guy) but I plan to up it to X5677 later on. And like I said previously, its on par with i7-3rd gen and some are on par with i7-4th gen, but you pay more for the top end, like $125+ for them cpu's.

Depends on what you are doing, but it should get you started then you start saving money for upgrades and/or a new pc.

Then when its time for a new pc buy Ryzen, because its fucking cheap! But most importantly its good shit!

Aw that sucks. I would keep looking for a sever mobo and xeon as the ipc gains Intel has got over the past 5 years are like 30% comined as they had no one to rvail them and them extra cores will be very usful.
