Should I sell my current GPU?

I'm in the UK and due to mining (Apparently) the RX480's prices have gone so far up on eBay, and manage to sell for estimately £240+ for the last few days. Because some GTX1060's can be bought for around £200 on Amazon for brand new, would it be worth selling my current GPU, replacing with a 1060 and getting a profit?

I don't actually have any issues with my current GPU apart from the encoding and have had troubles with drivers a few weeks ago, but in all honesty it works fine. Would it be worth taking a leap?

Have the box and everything.

Who still mines on GPU, not exactly worthwhile anymore, anyways, if you want to sell, then go for it, I personally would keep the RX 480 but that's just my dislike for dealing with Nvidia's pain in the ass boost shit, as an overclocker it's a pain.

I'm not really into overclocking and happy with how any components work with stock clocking. I'm deeply interested in recording stuff and feel Nvidia is totally better than AMD in various ways. Could be wrong altogether though, but definitely found it interesting that they're selling for this much.

Thanks for the reply,

If you don't overclock then you'd find nVidia to be the better choice as they half ass overclock themselves, while AMD will sit along nicely at it's rated boost speed. Other than that there is really little difference between the two, they both render scenes. For GPU encoding of footage, really they both do a great job, and there is little difference in the two, it depends on the games you play and if they're nVidia or AMD optimised.

Yours faithfully

A suggested my colleague sell his GPU, he posted it just out of curiosity to see what he could get and ended up selling it for 375 euros (he bought it a year ago for 280 euros). He put in some more money to get a GTX 1070.

Going for a GTX 1060 is just a sidegrade honestly. As in you're not getting any more or less fps (depending on the game it can differ about 5fps occasionally).

Recently it has become worth it again, not mining Bitcoin, but other types of coins that don't allow for ASIC machines. Bitcoin mining is not worth it on GPU's.

I know some currencies love memory, but I bet there are custom silicon with memory in use, however I never have and never will invest in virtual currency, I love my darn gold, there's even gold in them there mountains.

I put my R9 380X on eBay a few days ago.

It was a good decision.

On the downside, I'm now staring down the prospect of using a 750 Ti in a well-endowed gaming rig in the near future.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
