Hello to start of i'm not great with computers, i know the very basics and i build this computer myself around 4 years ago, i am wanting to add a 2nd stick of ram, i currently have 1x 8gb stick ideally i would like to add another 1x8gb but im having some trouble, currently my 1x 8gb Stick is sat in the | | < (right) Right hand side lane, if i add a second stick to the Left lane, computer boots but no display... i have tested the 2nd ram in the right and side lane and it works fine but if as soon as i put one into the left lane it wont boot with a display, there is no dust in the RAM slot it has been air compressed completely not sure if there is a way around this or the ram slot on the motherboard is straight up shafted, anybody got any idea's that a beginner could try without risk of breaking everything :D

Build -
Motherboard - Asus P8H61-MX R2.0
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.2HGz (4CPU), ~3.2GHz
Ram - 1x 8gb Kingston DDR3
Graphics Card - NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970 4gb SC
PSU - Corsair CS650M 650W Semi-Modular ATX 80 PLUS Gold Power Supply

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, Thank you.

@nerdslayer1 erm well there's a slight problem i didn't fit the internal speaker when i was building my computer because i lost it in the process and have never bothered getting another one.

find a speaker, beep codes will tell you a lot. look at your manual also https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1029959

@nerdslayer1 that will be 1st on the agenda then i guess!

Tried both sticks in dimm 0, and then dimm 1 on their own to check for boot. Worst case you've a dead dim on the mobo,

should be a mobo speaker in the boards box.

Silent build - You know your pc is too loud when the deaf complain. Windows 98 gaming build, smells like beige

DaviidJH.

1) Make sure that you unplug the PSU and unmount the memory modules.

2) Remove the CMOS battery and press the power button down for 30 seconds after this to discharge the capacitors on the motherboard.

3) After that place the CMOS battery back in after 30 seconds.

4) Finally place the Memory modules again and plug in the PSU.

Try this method and let me know.
