GTX 1080 NiceHash

Hey guys,
I just now downloaded the nicehash miner, and started to mine mBTC. My first question is if you can change the currency being mined on nicehash, as I dont see any option to do so. My second question is wether or not this is an acceptable rate for a gtx 1080 HOF edition, 2.16133mBTC per day, 6.19USD per day or 0.369GH/s

It automatically converts it to Bitcoin for you, nothing you need to do.

sorry if this question is a little stupid but im completely new to crypocurrencies, what is nicehash actually mining? since i've read that mining different currencies specially on nvidia gpu's can result in vastly different profit margins

When you run its benchmark tool, it calculates which currency is best to mine (Typically this will be Zcash for Nvidia cards).

Pretty good, I get around $5 with my 1070.

ok thanks for being so helpful:) my last question is wether or not it is profitable to overclock your cards, considering the higher power consumption to higher efficiency

You could try to get to get a slight OC at stock voltage, but I would leave as voltage as is to save power (also heat will be more of an issue if you turn it up).

If you could tell me the hash algorithm this currency uses, I could tell you how it compares to my watercooled founders card :)

I get to 384 MH/s

Wow I might leave that running, a quick back of the envelope calculation tells me this makes about 4.38€ a day!

How do i 'add' the algorithms to NiceHash? Only CryptoNight appears on mine?

click your gpu

it will show algorithm settings for [insert gpu here]

Are you looking under the CPU? Dont bother to benchmark that, it isn't very efficient to mine with, click on the GPU (Will probably use more power than it makes).

So here are my results:

So in this case, would it be better to mine 'Lbry (ccminer)' since it is higher than 'Equihash', even though i have an Nvidia GPU and Zcash is recommended?

doesnt matter select all, and it will use equihash most of the time

i dont know what nicehash is minining for, but as far as i know is that its a cloudmining service, i think you can mine different coins(using a different miner afaik)

see image

see this image for my unpaid balances you can see equihash is the highest

If you want to run Nicehash, benchmark all of them and then select the top 3 that will give you the most BTC/day (last column on the right). These atm are Equihash, Lyra2REv2 and Lbry.

Also I generally recommend either not mining with the CPU or only mining with half its cores. The CPU will draw a lot of power and generate a lot of heat and really not contribute all that much to your overall profits per day. It's personal opinion but I would prefer to keep my parts working as long as possible rather than max out all it can for a shorter amount of time.

Also also, Nicehash works by contributing your hashing power towards the hashing algorithms you select it to allow to run. Nicehash sells your hashing power, rather than you mining coin directly, so that's why they pay you in BTC rather than the coin you are directly mining.

Out of curiosity, how much wattage is the 1080 drawing during mining?

Around 200 watts of power. If you're entering total power consumption for a mining profitability calculator then a safe calculation would be around 350-400 watts (it's a little less than this I'm pretty sure but its better to plan for worstcase scenario :P)

The returns have decreased significantly since he made that post.

I'd estimate that he'd only earn half that these days.

With my 1080 I am getting about 2 bucks a day if I run it using NICEHASH...so I don't any more.
