Hello! I need a new laptop for college (Photography degree), and I was looking at getting the Aorus X7 DT V7, however, I was thinking for a long time, and I have a decent desktop (i7 5930k, gtx 980, 24 gb ram and such) so maybe I could get a ultrabook/laptop for around 1000 and spend the rest on a 4k monitor, upgrades to the desktop, or even photography gear, so please leave your suggestions below! I am looking for the following;

- Preferably larger screen.

- Higher resolution is preferable, but at least a nice screen (Minimal bleed, accurate colors)

- Able to handle games reasonably (overwatch at about med, or metal gear solid and such, not 4k games, but decent gaming preferred)

- Able to handle Photoshop (Editing 42 mp photos, so nice ram)

- Since I am not getting a beast laptop, I would prefer it to be thinner

- Prefer to spend under 2000

Also feel free to leave suggested upgrades!

a mid tear GPU can handle adobe photoshop, though just make sure you get a good CPU with the laptop and lots of fast ram. SSD can be helpful too.

Spending on photography gear should be your top priority if you are missing some lenses or cameras in general, so make sure you've got what you need there, from adjustable tripods to timers and DSLRs with good chips and resolutions in them.

A lot of multimedia laptops can have a good display so make sure to compare the display they have.

Even the IGP can handle photoshop, good CPU and ram is a must, as for gaming at 1080p, look at laptops with the 1050 or 1060.

What about the Gigabyte Aero 15? It looks freaking beautiful, Nice looking display, color calibrated, gaming touch while looking professional, gtx 1060, 7700hq, and 16 gigs of ram.

yes what @Sierra Fox said. for photoshop, xps15 is better. (don't get it if it's the 1080 one though, in that case the Aero15 is better).

XPS15 4k has the best Windows 15in screen period. (Macbook Pro screens are still better). But depends on your use case.

More gaming less photoshop? Aero 15.

More work less gaming? XPS15 (mostly for the 4k color reproduction).

This is only if you want the best thin and light performance laptops. There are laptops that come in on the same specs for half the price.

Also the Zenbook Pro is releasing soon. Might be a nice balance between the XPS15 and Aero15 with it's 1050ti and 4k screen.
