Hi all,

I have recently purchased parts for a new PC build (first time in 10 years). The link to the build are in another thread I made but can be seen here: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/2Bkn4C

I have been using a macbook pro for years and typing on this is great but would be terrible for gaming due to the short travel distance of the keys. I literally know nothing about good keyboards & mice so was looking for some help in choosing what would be good for my system. I have a budget of around £200 that would include the keyboard and mouse (Not really bothered about RGB lighting).

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you.

Would be nice to know a bit more.

Keyboard:

mechanical or not?

full-board or 10-keyless?

wrist wrest or not?

usb ports? (believe it or not, some people value that in a keyboard)

Mouse:

grip type?

Need for extra buttons?

wired or wireless? or both?

fps oriented or multipurpose?

Regardless, you'll want to stay away from Razer (high prices and low quality these days) and ding-dong-lo brands.

Logitech, Corsair and Steelseries have my votes so far

Keyboard:

Mechanical or not: No idea as I've never tried a mechanical keyboard before

Full keyboard: Yes

Wrist Rest: I can always get an after market one so no big deal here

USB ports: What would they be for?

Mouse:

Grip Type: Erm, I have been using a wireless logitech m705 for years which feels great! Don't know what type of grip that is though... ergonomic I guess?

Wired: Definately!

Multipurpose: Gaming and general browsing.

i have a K70 and its a pretty great keyboard(though im getting a bit tired of cherry switches) i have it with browns and its great for games and typeing from my experience. Blues are IMO shit for most games but are really nice to type on and reds are just booring, browns are a sortof middleground but dont expect massive tactile feedback or anything

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

In regards to keyboard: try going to a showroom or somewhere they have keyboards on display and have a feel for mechanicals before disregarding them. Some people prefer them over non-mechanicals.

I like USB ports on keyboards. one of my headsets has a cable a bit too short to plug it into the PC, so I use one of my keyboard's ports. the other one's handy for changing my phone or using a usb drive.

mouse: gahdamn the m705 is tiny.
