Macbook Pro Retina Display Battery Question

Go to solution Solved by atrash,

it uses AC power when plugged in. and keeping it plugged in even when the battery full is fine. you don't have to worry about wearing the battery down. remember to use the original provided power adpter. just don't drain the battery to less than 20% or operate the laptop in high ambient temperature.

Does anyone know if the macbook pro retina display takes charge only from the battery when fully charged, or if it actually uses the AC wall adapter?

I know that if it is using the battery to keep the laptop on even when plugged in, it will wear down the battery really fast...

I would not be surprised if apple did this

Does anyone know if they do do this? Is there a way I can look at their schematics for the 2015 macbook pro 13 inch retina display and find this out?

To better explain, this is what the schematic might look like:

AC wall adapter --> Mac Battery --> Computer  (While plugged in)

OFF TOPIC: I suggest every poll from now on to have "**CK EA" option instead of "Other"

When I used the first generation 15" retina it ran off the wall the battery does not take use while charging.  Dispite the hate on apple they make decent stuff. It lasted me like 3 years till I moved to windows desktop and laptop for work.

First get was released late 2012 /early 2013

It is not stupid. It is their business model. They make products that are designed to break.

Making the battery die sooner would probably be their goal so you would buy another computer.

What kind of idiot do you take me for? Of course it is their business model... Or at least, their new one.

I mean, why do you think the 12 inch macbook with usb C connectors has tamper proof screws? To prevent the end user fixing their own product, and to make them buy another one.

Just because something is not user servicable does not mean it is built to break. My CPU is not user servicable but is it considered Built to break? No. No it's not.

even if it was their plan. you get a warranty dont you? and when that ends open it up? im failing to understand what the issue is. have it serviced under warranty if the battery dies during the 1 year or more if u have apple care, then do self service. all they added was screws to prove it was opened up. when the warranty ends you can do what ever as its not officaly supported for repair from apple for free anyway.    unless your annoyed you cant upgrade the SSD or ram [ dont know dont care if they began fusing the SSD and Ram to the mainboard ]

not being a ass anyway just curious
