It's possible, there's easily enough space to do it. But there are no examples yet.

I hope so. I want to build a portable workstation http://www.trans2000.com/product/spark-s5/ because I am traveling and I need the 16core power.

The industrial portable case that I found it is using an mATX board. The problem with portable chassis that can full ATX motherboard be installed  become too heavy and double the weight.

I will have also a problem with the CPU cooling system because it can take max 104mm height.

Do you know if low profile coolers will be available for Thread Ripper ?

Thanks

I don't know about any CPU coolers for the socket yet, you'd have to wait until the companies that offer cooling products say anything. Noctua had some coolers on display at Computex, though.

I have been wanting to build on a mATX platform as well but can't seem to find a decent board that has what I want for the AM4 socket. They are all budget boards!

The intel 270 platform has some very nice options in the mATX form factor so I may head in that direction with a 7700.

I really wanted an AMD build the the motherboard manufacturers are slow to support the AM4 platform and Threadripper is more geared toward multiple lanes.
