Do you have any idea how bad the bottleneck would be for a GTX 1080? It's a waste of money - you wouldn't be able to get anywhere near the full potential out of that GPU. The FX-6100 system is just temporary for me for now. I am only waiting for the 7800X to be released and for benchmarks to come out. Debating between a 7800X and 1700. 7700k is tempting but I do more than gaming (streaming and video editing). Although I did watch Bitwit's video about gaming and streaming between 1700 and the 7700k. The 7700k had higher FPS everytime when streaming. The answer is it will bottleneck pretty much anything modern lol. It's a crappy CPU. When you upgrade, I would suggest saving money and going with an R7 1700. It's still got more threads and cores than a 7800X. Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response! So just enjoy the 1080 and know you won't be tapping on its full potential until you upgrade your CPU. I prefer the 7700k. The new Intel line up is getting messy and bad choices were made. I just wonder if the 7800X will out perform the 1700? The 1700 costs $300 and the 7800X $390. Would the $90 difference be worth it. And those X299 motherboards, they look amazing but pricing will definitely be steep. 1 hour ago, Shadow6767 said: Intel's new X299 platform is looking like a bit of a rushed disaster. Well, ryzen has more cores and threads so anything productivity wise it will outperform the 7800x, but for gaming we dont really know anything yet, but I am guessing it will edge out the ryzen chips.
