980 Will only boot when DVI-D is plugged in

I recently bought a second hand Gigabyte Windforce OC 980. I initially thought it was broken because it just gave me a black screen, my motherboard gave me a red led indicating there was something wrong with the VGA and when pressing the power button, the computer immediately turned off (indicating Windows didn't boot yet). This was the case for two computers i tested it in. I found out however, that when I plug one of my two monitors in through the DVI-D port, suddenly it works perfectly and gives a signal to both displays. When booted up I can even just swap the ports and it will work just fine.

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?

One thing I found is that this card requires two separate bios flashes. One when you booted with DVI-D connected, and another when booted with DVI-I connected. Could it be that the second bios is corrupt?

So for anyone still interested or who encounters this problem in the future, it turned out the second bios was indeed corrupt. I fixed it by enabling my integrated gpu in the bios and booting with that with my card still in my computer. The card would still load on or the other bios when the computer started with a monitor plugged in to either the DVI-I or DVI-D port. I plugged one monitor in my mobo and the other in the graphics card so that it would load the corrupt bios. I then downloaded the firmware from Gigabyte, and added .rom after the filename (because it was in the wrong extension for Nvflash). I then proceeded to flash the card with Nvflash and it worked properly again after that!
