Build for Gaming & Game Development

This will be used for both gaming and game development. I will be using software such as Unity 5, and 3d modeling software (most likely blender). Here's what I've chosen so far;

- I7- 7700k

- GTX 1060 6GB

- 8GB RAM (I plan to get another 8gb later down the road)

- 250gb 850 Evo (I already own)

I'm on a tight budget, so these specs are about all I can afford. I could swap the 1060 for a 1070, and go for an I5 instead, but I'm not sure if 3d modeling and Unity game development would benefit from more CPU power or GPU power. If you have an answer please explain why.

Thanks!

for that kind of tasks you will be much better of with ryzen 1600 or 1700

Would it be a huge improvement? Cause I will also be playing Microsoft Flight Simulator X which loves Intel CPU's

Ryzen will defo be better, especially in blender, which I believe just added multi-core/thread optimizations.

ryzen 1700 wil run circles around a 7700k in Blender and other modeling software.

^^^ It'll be noticeable.

FSX is extremely old but it still brings workstations down to its knees with addons because of how badly optimized it is

I don't think so. There is freaking Pentium 4 in recommended system requirements.

Also, what about streaming? I know the i7 kills the i5 when it comes to streaming game play. By streaming i mean like remotely playing games over the internet or steam in home streaming type stuff

That's true but I believe when it was released, nothing in it's time could run the game max sliders. I will however look into the ryzen series it may still be sufficient for p3d

I personally don't what steam in-home streaming uses (intel quicksync, NVidia's technology or h264). And how do you expect to play games over the internet? There will be massive delay unless you have perfect internet from both sides

So to clarify, blender and unity want more CPU than GPU correct? Cause then I'd be getting the 1700 and a 1060, $300 CPU paired with $250 GPU.
