Can already cast to chromecast but it would be nice to have proper queue/playlist support.  As well as either have it disconnect after the video/playlist is done or just override the currently playing video with the one selected to avoid the 'stop casting' dialogue when you try to start the next video if you haven't manually stopped casting already.  Think these would add a smoother experience for people who are casting.  Although I am happy its possible to cast in the first place.

Playlists and all that are most likely coming with dedicated platform. We'll see how it turns out. But with current system there probably won't happen.

and when does it launch?

Ahahahah good question!

We aren't committing to anything right now. But development is VERY active and we are making wonderful progress.

Yeah that's exactly what we're trying to avoid. Floatplane Media Time is going to be "nothing nothing nothing BAM it's launched!"
