Depends on what you do on the PC. If you do anything multi core powered, it'd be worth it. Unless you see a massive reduction in fps / high CPU usage, I'd stick with the 3770.

I'm still plenty happy with my 2700K (4.9 GHz OC).

3770 non k? New Ryzen chips are not much faster unless in multi-threaded tasks, i.e. video editing, rendering etc

3770k is just as good, if not better than Ryzen in games, so no upgrade needed atm.

OP has a 3770 locked and asked whether he should get a 1600 or 1700. You then proved that a ryzen chip worse than those two is superior to his.

Why would you consider those Ryzen chips to be superior? In single core tests the 3770 performed similarly. It only dropped behind by about 10% in quad core tests. This is not counting that Ryzen chips are all overclockable and leads to the average scores shown being higher than that of the 3770.

 

edit: IPC difference of Ivy Bridge and Broadwell is significant, but that doesn't directly relate to CPU performance

The 1600 is at 3.2ghz and beats the 3770 at 3.4 by 6%. What makes you think they're inferior? They actually win out in every test

For content creation you totally should upgrade, my brother upgraded from the i7 3770 to the r7 1800x and his productivity on Sony Vegas, Adobe and every thing else he uses for his work as video editor gotten extremely better... now if you just game I would still hold to that i7 3770 until the Canon Lake 10nm processors come.

But OP is asking about performance, not IPC. Stock base and turbo clock speed difference shouldn't be taken into account
