Minecraft Machine! Feat Core 2

kaiju_wars

So my boss, who I happen to be good friends with, was wanting a dedicated Minecraft machine for his wife since they play the game with their kids a lot.

I had to order a couple of parts, which is no big deal.  But I did have a lot of spare parts lying around, so I said, "hey, I have no use for these spare parts, want me to build you a budget rig?"

And thus, the Minecraft Machine is being built.  What did I decide to add?  Well, I have images, lots of images.  Time for a rundown.

If anyone remembers the Sub-$100 build, then you recognize this case.  I still have no idea what case it is...

Obviously I only have the best power supply ever built by man!  The Power Man 350W PSU!

Here's the label on the side if anyone is interested in the specs of this absolutely amazing unit.

Yeah... I had to add Molex to PCIe six-pin adapter.

The motherboard.  It's the Intel DG41TY.  It works, that's all that matters.

Obviously, simply, absolutely, the best CPU cooler ever made, simply the best.  Yyyuuuuuuge!  I tell you!.  Simply, yuge!

Old 500GB 5400RPM Toshiba 2.5" drive I pulled from an old laptop.  It still works, which is all that matters here.

USB WiFi adapter.  They wanted WiFi, so they get WiFi.

4GB of DDR2 low-profile Crucial RAM.  It's Crucial, it's good.

Finally, the main event.  The CPU, the brain of this build, the one you all been waiting for...

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200.

Sure, not the fastest C2Q, but it is a quad core.

Welp, I'm still waiting for the GPU, that'll be a surprise once it gets here.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

The stickers on my case cost more than that.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

I'm good at doing the opposite. But then again, $8,000 SSDs aren't going to by themselves.

So GPU came in today, I took it apart, cleaned it up and put fresh thermal paste on there.

I installed it in the machine afterwards too.  I'm currently installing Windows, but I had a scare there at first and thought the GPU didn't work.  I plugged everything in, and nothing would display on screen.  I had to unplug the DVD drive to get it to post.  Probably due to a shitty PSU, but I'll troubleshoot it after I have Windows 10 installed.
