If i transfer pictures and music to an external WD drive why do they still stay on my phone but transfer to the drive?

Your copying them, not moving them.

You must be copying them, not moving them. Just delete them from the source device after copying them.

Because its copying them across and then not deleting the device copy?

i assume you mean if you drag them, they copy rather than move, its another device, if you drag and drop within a pc it moves, but from a pc to a drive it copies and vice versa, and the same would apply from the phone to the drive i would think

yea i realized that, i just dragged a bundle of them from my phone to the external drive. My intent is to save most of them on the external drive so I have more space on my iphone for more pics and whatnot

you're copying...not moving.

 

if you want to move them, do CTRL + X then CTRL + V on the WD Drive

I could also just delete the pics from my phone now that theyre transferred onto the drive right?
