My Earbuds are acting strange

Hey guys, I have a problem. So recently I bought a cheap pair of earbuds (finite audioworx legacy buds to be specific) just for temporary usage while I am outside the country. The earbuds are listed to have a mic, but I can't seem to use it. I have a desktop PC and when I plug my earbuds into it I can hear fine but I can't speak into it. If I am trying to Skype somebody or communicate I am not able to. However, if I go onto my Macbook laptop, it works perfectly. I don't know if this is because the mic is not working or if I am doing something wrong. Any help?

Well, a macbook laptop might be working because it has a built in mic. Try using it with your phone instead. I think the mic only works with mobile devices such as tablets or phones. Not meant for computers.

Macs support the volume buttons, mic, etc on headphones. Most PCs don't. They have a separate line for the speakers and one for the mic. At least most of the oldish ones and desktops do.
