I just want to talk about RAM prices getting higher and higher these past few months, especially the 2x8 sticks which infuriates me. A simple man just wants his low prices back to <$100 so everyone can enjoy all the RAM they need and want.

Responses are truly appreciated.

Ryzen does better with good memory and there was some lack in RAM chips a while back IIRC. it sucks really hard but you can just get cheepo RAM still for not all that much

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

I get why they raises the price of RAM because of ryzen magic with RAM but how about the Team Intel? It really sucks especially for new builders up and coming.

they use the same DDR4, so the price gets pushed up for both. All RAM that runs on Ryzen will work on intel chips but Ryzen has pretty bad memory compatability and works mainly with Samsung B-dye memory which is also the best and most common type of DDR4

It's not about ryzen. RAM prices are steadily rising due tue many factors.
I believe this video explains most of them(I have no sound right now, can't be sure)

I understand why they raise the prices, but it is too sudden

I don't mean to derail, it's kind of relevant, but is budget RAM (without a heatspreader) fine for a budget build? Considering the increase in price, I kind of want to pick up budget RAM until I have money to buy something nice.

At the end of the day, it is still RAM (a naked one) but I mean if you don't mind the exposed PCBs it's fine.

P.S. Don't quote me on this

Its funny(not in the actual sense) cause i bought 16gb corsair vengeance pro about 6 months ago, for £70.99 (ddr3)

If i was to sell it on eBay now, i can get the same, even more than that for it, after 6 months of having it and using it.

I remember when I bought 16GB DDR3 for 90€, and at that time it was possible to get DDR4 for 80€ ... but it would cost me too much to change CPU + motherboard just to get new fancy DDR4 for 10€ less.

And last month I paid 140€ for 2x8GB ram sticks DDR4 ...

By that rate, we should see 16GB DDR4 ram priced at around 500€ in next 2 years lol

That's what I mean! The price shift has gone wild that you could profit by selling the same stuff you bought last year because the price is waaay too damn high.

I bought 1 8GB of Crucial Ballistix DDR4 for £25 on sale on Amazon last year and the seconds stick for about 35 on Amazon a month later.
I've just sold them on ebay for £90 and if you were to buy them brand new you'd be spending near £120

It is absolutely stooooooooooooooooopid

I don't think it is sudden. It has been gradually creeping up since... some time late last year I think.

I keep looking at RGB ram, not because I need it... unfortunately all the modern stuff came out after the prices went up, and then you have the RGB premium on top of that...
