What @pelark (and I) is trying to figure out is...

Do you need the USB 2.0 / 3.x headers...

Is it that hard to go on a site like Newegg and look at pretty pictures of motherboards and count the usb headers?

For example go here to see ALL socket AM4 motherboards: https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007625 601292786&IsNodeId=1

Then to reduce your search try first filtering by USB3.0 connectors  : 6 or 8  (4-6 would be on the back side, 2 or more would be as headers).  Most would also have 1-2 x 2 USB2.0 headers.

For example even the cheapest ASUS Prime A320M-K  has 2 usb 2.0 headers and a usb 3.0 header : https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132977

And that's what I said.

All AM4 motherboards will work with Ryzen

You could go and look through all 500 or whatever motherboards are there on socket AM4 to see which has at least one usb 3.0 header (2 ports in total) and at least 2 usb 2.0 headers (4 ports in total) by looking at the picture of the motherboard, or you could improve your chances of finding one by limiting the results to motherboards that have at least 6 or 8 total usb 3.0 ports (because the majority of motherboards have 4 or 6 on the back, so - duh - the rest should be headers on the motherboard.

Using search filters in a smart way would make it easier for you.

You're not paying me to list here 100 motherboard models that have at least 4 usb 2.0 ports (in the form of 2 usb 2.0 headers) and at least 2 usb 3.0 ports (in the form of a usb 3.0 header)

tldr : i'm teaching you how to fish instead of just giving you bread (if you get my drift)

Headers

A lot of Ryzen motherboards will come standard with two USB 3.x headers -- particularly on the X370 based motherboards.

USB 2.0 headers, however, is a different story.

Most boards these days will have two USB 2.0.

It looks like manufacturers opted for more USB 3.x connections, but cut the amount of USB 2.0 as a trade-of.

The only motherboard I can find that has three USB 2.0 header is the Biostar X370GT5

  • 2x USB 3.0 headers
  • 3x USB 2.0 headers

IMO, not the best Ryzen motherboard out there, and not as a widely known brand compared to ASUS, MSi, Gigabyte, etc.

Also, if you need plain usb 2.0 headers, you can always go for a usb 2.0 hub like this one: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811997024

or this : https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0ZX53E6903

or go for slightly more expensive adapters which convert one usb 3.0 port to multiple usb 3.0 ports and just use them as usb 2.0 headers
