For work, I honestly prefer multi-monitor, but in terms of single monitor, I'd say a 27" with at least 1440p resolution. More screen real-estate = better in my book

What's the resolution?

But generally, a larger monitor is usually better for productivity.

It depends on the resolution you are aiming at, 1920x1080p sweet spot is 24inches while 2560x1440p sweet spot is 27 inches

Resolution matters a lot more than size.

How far you're going to be sitting from the monitor also matters more than it's size alone.

I'd rather have a 25" 1440p monitor (as I do) than a 27" 1440p one, as the pixel density is higher, and thus you get more sharpness.

Also, I sit fairly close to my monitor, so the extra 2" wouldn't really help me out at all.

I can just about live with a 24" 1080p monitor, and I think at 27", 1080p is too low a pixel density.

For me, 27" 1080p: bleurgh

24" 1080p: acceptable

27" 1440p: waste of inches, but looks good

25" 1440p: perfect

This. If you can swing two 1440p 27" monitors, then by all means swing it
