New GPU

Duckmeister

Hey,
I'm fairly new to PC building and I've been looking to upgrade my PC for a while now, and I've had my eye on a new GPU first. It's the MSI GeForce GTX 1070 AERO OC 8GB, to replace my MSI GTX 950 2GB I got a while ago. My first concern is the power and the 8-pin connecter it has, my PSU only has a 6-pin. However, I have a 6-pin to 8-pin converter from a while back, would that work? Is there anything else I should check first before buying it?
Thanks.

Can you tell us what PSU you have?

It would work, but if you're psu doesn't even have an 8 pin you might want to get it changed... What psu do you have?

Also, I don't recommend getting the aero as it uses a blower style cooler.

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Any recommendations on fairly cheap, but reliable PSUs that have an 8-pin connector?

One of the cheapest 1070 8GBs I found, is there anything wrong with the aero card style?

Only thing is the blower style cooler will run hotter, louder and you won't be able to overclock as well. I'd recommend getting an open air design from MSI, Asus, EVGA, Gigabyte etc.

:o I didn't bother checking newegg as I didn't think they had a Europe store! That looks a lot better, thanks. But it has a 12-pin connector, would the PSUs you recommended be compatible with that?

Technically, 2x 6 pin connectors, the previous power supplies I mentioned will have them

12 pin? There are only 8 pin or 6 pin. This particular card uses 2 6 pins. Most modern PSU with reasonable power rating have them
