VPN for school?

I am currently trying to find a free-to-use VPN for school because they block a lot of things including Snapchat, which everybody hates. I would like it to be able to use it on my MacBook, and being able to use it on my phone would be a plus. It should be mentioned that a fair amount of VPNs have been blocked, but there are still a few that work. I have heard the term 'SSH tunneling' being thrown around as working, but I'm not that great when it comes to networking so I'm not sure what I'm looking for. I'm willing to try installing a bunch of these to see if they work, but please don't just send me a link to your trojans.

They have actually blocked certain sites that we have tried to use for research purposes in class, even the teachers have gotten upset about it before

If the school blocks things you think shouldn't be blocked, ask for it to be unblocked. Other than that, we won't (or rather, are not allowed due to forum rules) help you bypass school security.

So my school board(TDSB) has pretty much banned everything on youtube except the peppa pix X Spider man things so our teachers are using VPN's to get past this

What you can do is host a vpn on your router (pfsense can do that) and then if the school blocks ports in hopes of stopping vpn usage you can change the port number to something that would be idiotic to block (ie tcp port 80) and tada you're unstoppable.
