you can build an 8bit cpu or 16 bit but not a 32 or 64 bit CPU at home.

I built a CPU once.. it was horrible caused my wife to leave me and my dog ran away.

Electricity in BC (Dont know about other places) is cheap af. C$0.10/KWH (residential rate)

OP i am going, to be honest, for learning about an 8/16-bit CPU get an Arduino, for 32 bit get a raspberry pi 2b/3( pi1 only has a single core), building a cpu even a simple 4 bit will be difficult also not worth the effort.

im sorry i said cpu, it was in my head at the time i wrote it! i have edited it now and changed it though!
