So I've asked before but since I've made a couple of changes and have been trying to keep prices down as best as I can.

The rig is for general/ game streaming, video editing, audio editing and gaming with possibly some 3D rendering stuff.

(Apologies in advance since I'm probably not going to be able to reply for a while I'm doing a lot of stuff)

I already have a asus gtx 1050 2gb for the time being and I'll be upgrading to either a 1060 6gb or a 580 8gb depending on price when I save up a for one or the other.

All components are from Amazon (would have liked to give newegg a go but the shipping costs is off-putting)

Kingston Technology 60GB Solid State Drive V300 2.5-inch SATA 3                                   - £42.99

Corsair CP-9020097-UK VS Series ATX/EPS 80 PLUS Power Supply Unit, 550 W              - £38.39

Total: £779.90

I do not plan on overclocking the cpu any time soon

(Current rig info)

My current rig I got for free so I can't really complain about it xD

AMD: Athlon II X2 240 2.80 ghz

Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H

Windows 7... 32gb

5gb ddr4 (because why not) 2.75 gb usable

500w psu (unbranded)

ASUS ROG Strix: 2gb 1050

300 gb HDD

Skyrim:  Medium settings and high render distance no lower than 30fps (hd texture dlc included) - some stutter on textures but you have to look closely to find 'em.

Fallout 3: Med and some high settings no lower than 30fps

Warframe: Preset high settings average 40 fps solo - can reach lows of 15-12 fps under high enemy count while playing with others.

Neverwinter: Never tested the fps, however apart from the character running animation I've had little trouble running about 30fps on both high and low settings.

The only real problem I have with this rig is game crashes if I need to do something

u12s is an overpriced cooler, stick with stock

vs is a shit psu

get fast speed for ram

60gb is barely enough for anything, even windows os

agreed, ryzen won't fire up properly without fast ram.. take 3000-3200 mhz, it's a sweet spot

Replaced the ssd with a 120gb kingston.

Removed cooler. If I do require a better cooler in future I just remembered I can get a hyper 212 for about £40.

Whilst an OEM is tempting I'd rather not have to deal with being potentially turned down by microsoft support if I run into a problem.

212 evo is on par with stock cooler, don't, stick to stock or invest in good ones

I've got two wraith spires now and I'm not impressed with them. They're ok for light loads but I'd want better if you're going to stay under load for any amount of time. On my stock 1700 I'd rate it as barely adequate for cooling, and temps dropped significantly with a U14S on it. I haven't tried a 212 on Ryzen but based on my experience with them on Intel, I'd expect it to be cooler and quieter than the wraith spire from the bigger cooling area. The spire fans do have a bit of a whine to them at high speeds that even the intel stock ones don't.

I've had good experience with the hyper 103 in my current rig. Idle it easily holds 30c (checked with the bios multiple times after testing a game) with 1 case fan (108mm). I'd do stress tests to see how high my temps get under load, but even under load I can't tell a temp difference. Honestly if it were possible I'd happily just use the hyper 103 but there's no plans to give the product an upgrade for am4 (checked with cooler master on that).
Plus with the additional case fans cooling shouldn't be an issue.

I have not though you could look at it like a safety net of sorts. The only calls linked to "Microsoft" I've had was one of those scam calls. Had fun that day.

i have also never called them but at least from my understanding most issues they just tell you too call the manufacturer of whatever part and the various online forms are more helpful because 100 dollars for a just in case is a bit high in my opinion
