My quest to get my framerate up to 60 - 1200€ Buid

Hello trusty adventurers in the realm of the great mighty linus!

and ... okay i can go back to a more norman voice? ... okay ... confuse people? ... i get that.

I am here to start my build proccess to build my first computer all on my own.

The computer my uncle around build 5-6 years ago with the beastly i5 2500k and my trusty hd6970

has done me well through all these years, yeah i allways droped a few settings but only last year my buid reached its limmits.

Dropping everything to low and going 720p didn't help to get those sweet 60FPS. the offenders? nearly every new game!

So the baseline is:

I am going for an ultrawide 1440p drop some settings system as i plan on upgrading my gpu but i am going for a good monitor right now.

I do some rendering and some software development as a hobby but i dont need any brand specific features as they are usualy not realy important.

my basic idea is to go for a system with the Ryzen r5 1600 or 1600x

and i am concidering to wait for Vega, even if it wont be that good some competition could make my dream buid come true.

the problem is i am not that savvy concerning the other parts so i need your help good people!

My budget is around 1200€ or the equivalent in Germoneys and my location is Germany.

What do you think, will my dream of a nice build come true?

Cheers, UltimateCube

I'd say to go for an r5 1600 (you can OC the same as an X series), and at least a 1070, but try and put a 1080 in it if you can.

You can keep your 2500K and buy a 1070 or 1080, but @Zando Bob has a good choice.

I would think i need a bit more horsepower on the cpu side even if my i5 is reliable with an good overclock!

I will try to squeeze an 1080 into my build! Is there a CPU Cooler you think is worth getting? Air should be plenty

I'd go with a new monitor (1440 or 1080 ultrawide). Ryzen is kicking up a storm it seems and I wouldn't be surprised if Intel carries out a much better chip next gen.

As mentioned, you might as well just buy a GTX 1070 and save yourself a boatload of cash. The i5-2500K stilll remains a very, very capable chip.

If you don't think it's cutting it, here's something I quickly whipped up. Get a Corsair Vengeance 550M as the PSU:

You guys are scaring me a bit, but in a good way!

How do you think about me just going for a rx580 now and getting a new monitor this cycle

and next time around i let my pc catch up to the monitor

seems a bit anticlimatic but mor economical

The monitor will last you for longer in the long-run and the GPU can always be added in quickly (~30 minutes). If you want to go for Ryzen, go with a 4- or 6-core SMT, but don't bother buying anything higher than that unless the frequencies match up.

Even though I think that the 2500K is dead at this point, it doesn't seem to be worth the expense and time to build anew with recent developments from AMD scaring Intel.

Keep a look out on the Hot Deals sub-forum. If there's ever a great deal on a CPU/motherboard combo that seems worth it, that'd be the time to go in.

Also, Micro Center is a great place for deals as well, but only for walk-ins.
