Hello,

I want to learn Java because it is the main language at my university. It is my first programming language but I got told that Java is pretty easy as the first language. So I am an absolute beginner.

Would you recommend any specific book, because I intend to buy an English speaking book :)

Background for those of you who are interested:

I enrolled 3 weeks ago for a Bachelor in I believe computer science is the right translation according to most translators (some suggest informatics) in an effort to change my life. Bit strange when you are one of the oldest students there with 30 years but oh well, happens :D

Greetings from Germany and thanks for the help.

Beginning programming with Java for Dummies - For beginners. An intro to programming more than an intro to Java.

Big Java, Early Objects by Cay S. Horstmann - Very good as a look-up book. Has more advanced stuff for Java 8 in it.

Thanks.

Are there changes in Java programming over time or does it stay the same? I mean the commands and so

Thanks :)

We are currently on Java 8. Java 9 is supposed to come soon, but I wouldn't worry about the changes/added things.
